Johan will release their first single from their forthcoming album ‘4′ on April 20th. ‘In The Park’ is the opening track of ‘4′ and will be available through iTunes. For those who haven’t ordered already… ‘4′ is available for pre-order in a CD Digipack version and also on vinyl (which also includes the CD). It turns out that Johan’s Paradiso show in October is hot ticket. So hurry up already. On the other hand October is still six months away… so why not check them this month at the Paradiso. Johan will be performing together with Moke and Marike Jager plus many authors authors at Gimmick! An all night party with Matthijs van Nieuwkerk, Katja Schuurman, Sophie Hilbrand and writers Remco Campert, Martin Bril, Herman Brusselmans, Ronald Giphart and Joost Zwagerman… just to a new few.

Johan’s Theatre Tour is almost at its end. If you want to see and hear Johan perform their Theatre Tour set, you’ll have to act fast and get your tickets (if they’re still available). Check the LIVE section for dates.

Over there you can also find newly added dates. Johan will be doing some radio shows, record store performances, try-out shows for the club tour and the actual club tour. Most of those dates are already on sale and we’ve heard that tickets are selling out fast. Here are all the dates.

Johan’s fourth studio album is now finished, mixed and mastered. So we can now announce the final tracklisting. ‘4′ features 10 tracks and as announced earlier the album will be released on May 4th, 2009. Johan speelde eerder deze maand in een totaal uitverkocht Theater aan de Parade in ’s-Hertogenbosch. De laatste plaatsen waren voor belangstellenden die zonder entree te betalen op de trappen mochten plaatsnemen. Het spelplezier spatte bijna twee uur lang van het podium. Johan are still in the middle of their theatre tour, celebrating 12.5 years of Johan, but a new album is on its way. Of course you can expect a proper tour with the band playing new songs of ‘4′. The first try-out shows have now been announced. Johan will play Cayen, Enkhuizen (April 17th), De Klos, Emmeloord (April 18th) and De Schuit, Katwijk (April 24th).

HEESCH - Natuurlijk moest de avond beginnen met Visions Of Johanna, de Dylan-compositie waarvan Jacob de Greeuw de titel in het begin van de jaren negentig als bandnaam besloot te gebruiken.

De Greeuw speelde en zong er een paar coupletten van, in zijn eentje op het podium van theater De Pas in het Brabantse Heesch. De vier muzikanten met wie hij nu Johan vormt, stonden aan de zijkant van het toneel naar hem te luisteren, alvorens hun plaatsen rondom hem in te nemen.

Heel even alle ogen op Jacob, dat was een mooi gezicht, want het koperen jubileum van Johan (de naam waaronder Visions Of Johanna in 1996 ‘doorstartte’, met een knipoog naar Johan Cruijff) is vooral het jubileum van De Greeuw, frontman en tevens enig overgebleven bandlid van het eerste uur. Bij deze zijn wij zo vrij om 2009 uit te roepen tot Johan Jubeljaar. Want: de groep laat z’n 3 albums in 1 luxe-verpakking verschijnen, maakt een grote toernee langs de Nederlandse theaters én brengt op 4 Mei zo waar een fonkelnieuw album uit. En omdat het de 4e plaat van het viertal is was een albumtitel snel gevonden, namelijk ‘4′ (uitgesproken als four).

Als we de geluiden uit De Studio mogen geloven wordt het album heel erg goed. Nu zeggen artiesten dat wel vaker maar bij Johan ligt dat anders want Jacco de Greeuw c.s. hebben namelijk een broertje dood aan grootspraak.

Op 4 Mei komt dus die nieuwe plaat, maar eerst verschijnt 12.5 Years, 3 albums, 36 songs en gaat de band op reis door Nederland. En dan zal eens te meer blijken dat de band een tijdloos en uniek oeuvre heeft opgebouwd. Want niet alleen zou elke song van Jacco de Greeuw gisteren of vandaag gemaakt kunnen zijn, elk liedje is ook helemaal ‘Johan’, kenmerken die straks live in de schouwburgen eens te meer naar voren zullen komen als de groep zich in volle glorie zal openbaren.

De theatertoernee van Johan loopt door tot donderdag 23 april.
